Why is ping not good enough?
Well, pinging a host is the best way to go, if you have a network issue here and now. It is quick and simple. The issue with ping is that it is not very good if you want to test over time. You will get the result on received and lost packets, but you have no clue when the issue happens, if you ping a host over hours or even days. This is why I needed at tool where I can monitor over time and give me a report of the state of one or more connections over time.
