5 Cool Apps for Windows Mango
Today it is time for me to share some of the best apps I have come across so far for my Windows Mango phone. As you might have read already I recently bought a HTC Radar smartphone running the new Windows Phone Mango. One of the things that make a smartphone smart is if you have some cool apps that can help you out. Yes I know. The Windows Marketplace does not have 500.000 apps like the AppStore and either does it have 250.000 apps as the Android marked, but with about 35.000 Apps so far Microsoft is on their way and new apps are added every day.
One of the programs that are still missing on the Marketplace is Skype. I find that a bit strange because who is it that recently bought Skype? Yep correct Microsoft themself…!! However a new video service called Tango is available for both: Windows Phone, Android and iOS.
Need help for reinstalling an App on Windows Phone Mango
If you like me sometimes find it necessary to reinstall an App you have tried to install once I came across this little article that explains how. It is not difficult at all, but it can be tricky to find the option to do it. I have been looking for this option in the Zune player many times, but it is not there. You need to go to the online version of the Marketplace to find the option.

I hope you liked the Apps I have been recommending above. Now I would like to hear what your favorite mobile app is and why you like it. Please drop me a commend below.
Windows phones may not have the applications that are available on iPhones or Android phones, but they still have some pretty good applications.
I wonder if the app development will increase once Windows 8 is released as it seems to be a much anticipated OS.
Hi Paul
I agree with you. There are a lot of quality apps for the new Windows Phone. Sometime I wish people would focus on quality instead of quantity. I don’t need 500.000 apps for my phone. I would actually sometime wish there was only a couple of hundreds quality apps for me to choose from.
Windows 8 will for sure be interesting. In the Developer preview I have seen the have integrated the same kind of touch framework for tablets that they use on Windows Phone. It might make it a lot easier to transform a desktop app into a mobile app in the future.
Hi Thomas!
Thanks for the information on useful applications. I like the one that helps you get soccer livescores. Is there any application that offers live scores for international tournaments of any game that you like?
Hi Leo
I don’t think I have seen one that covers all sports, but maybe this one: http://www.windowsphone.com/en-US/apps/e57f64ad-951b-e011-9264-00237de2db9e
Depends on what sport you would like to follow. I am also using one to follow scores from the NFL.
This one has live notifications for many soccer leagues: “Scores! 2011-12”.
Windows Mango has been making a buzz in the market lately. It’s good to let people know about the applications in order to encourage people to buy windows phone.
Hi Bob
In order to make it in the business of smartphone operating systems Apps support is a must. I think Microsoft have done a good job so far with more than 35.000 apps for Windows Mango.
With the advancement of technology, there are new developments taking place. I believe that are also other applications that windows Mango supports apart from those listed above. I like the Tango application that enables free calling on 3G. I believe its wonderful. Thanks for the providing information, Thomas.
Hi Rosalia
Welcome to my blog. There is for sure a lot of other great apps for Windows Phone Mango. The Tango application is for sure nice. Some people think that it will replace Skype in the future.
I’m gonna go for the apps to maximize my DropBox. Thanks for sharing!
The Endomondo looks really cool, I’ll have that. It’ll be awesome to track my running speed along my different routes. Thanks for the tip!
Hi Kirsty
It is really cool. I use it a lot myself. Thanks for droping by and leaving me a comment. I have writen a post about the app that you can see here: https://techthatworks.net/tools/endomondo-gps-tracking-of-sports-with-your-smartphone
This article really got my interest making me read it from the top to bottom. Well, about the five listed Mango app above, luckily I have tried two of them, first is the IMDb and the Tango. I can say that the author has a good taste picking those app as it has a lot of useful feature such as having a video call and having a wide list of movies from your phone. Nonetheless, I suggest covering a new up to date app for mango such as Stitcher, a free talk radio app that lets your listen to your favorite programs on demand.
I almost got every app you name in this list only not the soccer app because I don’t like soccer. Great list and hope you make more lists like this one. Keep on the good work!
Some really great applications shared here and I would love to go for IMDB application.
Hi Adam
The IMDB app is always nice to have whenever you want to look up a movie or an actor.
Tango video chat app seems good but it is useful to few people only. Hope to see some more useful application for my WP handset
Hi Ricky
Let’s hope that Microsoft soon will be ready with Skype as they promised at CES 2012.
BTW..Good news for WP users. NFS has been released for WP handsets 😉
SKYPE is under beta testing (at least that’s what rumor says)
I definitely will check out the IMDb apps! I like movies and usually check them out in IMDb.
Great Post!! You have done an outstanding work by posting such beneficial information about cool apps for windows phone. It looks great… It will definitely useful for windows phone users. I enjoyed your article and learned a lot. Keep sharing this type of informative articles in futures.
I have been using this app even when I was using my iPhone and Android phone. Let me tell you this is the best app for me all the OSes and on Windows Phone 7.5 Mango, Evernote has been updated with many improvements. While surfing on the Google search engine you can just make notes on this app. A must have app for all three platforms: Windows Phone 7.5 Mango, iOS and Android.
I have Endomondo on my windows phones. I must say this is a must-have app for all the sports lovers.
This Tango app is kind of an eye candy. Providing free video calls over 3G and 4G network is quite a nice app.
wow, the Windows Phone 7.5 Mango is such a great phone. Even more it gets cooler with its new apps. I just wonder when they would have a skype application because its pretty useful it they added that kind of apps. Well thank you for sharing!

Actually Skype is ready in a beta version now: http://blogs.skype.com/garage/2012/02/skype_beta_for_windows_phone_w.html
Thanks for the link buddy 🙂
I know this is some thing a very interesting initiation from Nokia to collaborate with Microsoft to enable this new innovation about this.
Apps that keep you up to date with the latest films and football scores – we’re all over them 🙂 Still think it will be interesting to see how the Window’s apps develop alongside the much more established iOS and Android platforms, but as long as there is some availability of popular core apps like some of those you mentioned, we definitely think the Window’s platform has got a future among consumers. Nice post.
Thanks for the accomplishment on this article, the apps you have mentioned is really great.

Dear Thomas, I would like to know if there are any good file transferring app in for iOS, that can create a bridge between my iphone and the desktop?
Hi
I am not the right one to help you with that. I have very little knowledge of iPhones and Apple. I am sure you can find help if you do some Google searching on the topic.
