Review of Marantz NR1609 AV Receiver

I just love electronic devices and gadgets and my latest one is this great AV-Receiver from Marantz

Marantz NR1609

The Marantz NR1609 is all about surround sound. It has all the new DTS standards, 4K video support and upscaling. It also supports HEOS Multi-room streaming. You can control this AV-receiver with either the included remote control or with your smartphone. This receiver also has FM/AM radio build in. Not sure if anyone is still using that. I am for sure not. The receiver also has all the inputs and output ports you will need, like 7 HDMI input (plus on at the front), digital audio inputs (One optical and one Coaxial).

Getting started

Setup of the receiver is very easy to do with on-screen guides on your TV, that take care of everything. It is very similar to the way Denon does it. Not that strange since Denon and Marantz was merged to one company back in 2002. If you like the way Denon does things you will also love this piece of equipment from the Japanese company. Just like with Denon this receiver comes with an Audyssey microphone to help you calibrate your speakers and subwoofer to get the best possible setup for your new home cinema.

Overall, I am very satisfied with my new receiver. It gives me great picture and sound for my movies and it is also great for wi-fi streaming with HEOS that I control from my smartphone. I have not yet tried all the features this device has to offer, but those I have tried have been working very well. All in all, this device gives great value for the money.
