Free Windows 10 Upgrade Offer to End Soon

Update: The free upgrade to Windows 10 is no longer available. July 29, 2016 was last day for free Windows 10 upgrades.
July 29, 2016 is last chance, if you want to upgrade your device to Windows 10 for free.jul29calendarThat is also the day for the one-year anniversary of the Windows 10 release to the public and it mark the end of the free upgrade offer from Microsoft. After that date, you are not able to upgrade Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 for free. If you already have upgraded your Windows 10 will keep on working as a full operational Windows 10. Your Windows 10 license will last as long as your device last. Rumors says that Microsoft might come up with new kind of ways to get a free upgrade to Windows 10, but don’t count on it. There are no official statements from Microsoft about that.

Why upgrade to Windows 10?

Well, if you are running on Windows 7 and Windows 8, you can of cause stay on those systems of you prefer. However, it is kind of last chance if you want the free upgrade for Windows 10. There are many reasons why you should upgrade to Windows 10. Here is a couple of them:

  • Windows 10 boot-up very fast
  • Windows 10 is more secure
  • DirectX 12 is only supported in Windows 10 (Gaming)
  • Windows 10 has Virtual Desktops
  • Windows 10 will keep on being supported by hardware vendors
  • Start Menu is back (Windows 8 users)

There is still some support for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, but it will not last forever. If you wonder how long Microsoft will keep up with support and updates for older Windows versions, check out this link: When will Microsoft pull the plug on your version of Windows

    1. I don’t think it will work without a valid Windows licens, but no formatting needed and all data are preserved doing the upgrade progress.

  2. Hi, Thomas
I would say Windows 10 is the best ever operating system I used. I’m currently using Windows 10 and it’s working damn good. Please keep writing.

    1. Hi Chiro
I am very happy with Windows 10 too. Both at work and at home I use Windows 10 and I love it 🙂

  3. Dammit, I forgot. I was going to dual-boot my Mac, but I ran out of time.

I have a feeling that Microsoft will re-open free upgrades if sales fall below a certain level though.

    1. Hi Ben
Maybe you will get a second chance at some point, but I have not heard about any 2nd shot for free upgrade yet.
